COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Women's Collegiate gymnastics Association (WCGA) recognized 13 members of the Mizzou gymnastics program as Scholastic All-Americans, the organization announced on Tuesday. The 13 selections were tied for the seventh-most nationally of Division I programs and tied for second-most among Southeastern Conference teams.
Tigers honored by the WCGA in 2018 were Allison Bower, Chelsey Christensen, Lauren Clevenger, Kennedi Harris, Madeleine Huber, Alyssa Johnson, Paige Kovnesky, Xarria Lewis, Shauna Miller, Morgan Porter, Becca Schugel, Michaelee Turner and Britney Ward. To qualify for the All-America team, a gymnast must have a GPA of 3.50 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above at the nominating institution.
Schugel is now a four-time Scholastic All-American, while Harris, Huber, Turner and Ward's earned honors for the third time. Bower, Christensen, Clevenger, Johnson, Kovnesky, Lewis, Miller and Porter claimed the accolades for the first time in their careers.
