@MizzouGym Celebrates 2018 Season With Awards Banquet

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri gymnastics team celebrated its 2018 season with its annual awards banquet at the Clinton Club on Saturday, April 28. Numberous awards were given out at the event, including Gymnast of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri gymnastics team celebrated its 2018 season with its annual awards banquet at the Clinton Club on Saturday, April 28. Numberous awards were given out at the event, including Gymnast of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

The 2018 Tigers advanced to NCAA Regionals for the third-consecutive season and recorded their highest conference championship meet score since 2004. Additionally, the team notched three top 10 wins during the year, highlighted by a 196.925-196.625 win over No. 5 Florida on March 2, Mizzou's first-ever victory over the Gators. Missouri also defeated Arkansas twice this season while the Razorbacks were ranked in the top 10. 

Junior Allison Bower and sophomore Aspen Tucker were named Co-Gymnasts of the Year on Saturday. Tucker competed in the all-around in all 13 meets this season and recorded season-best scores of 9.900 on vault and floor, 9.875 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 39.350 in the all-around. She earned a team-high six event titles in 2018, with four in the all-around and two on vault. Bower was a mainstay in the beam and floor lineups, while also competing on vault and bars three times during the year. She competed as an all-arounder against LSU on Feb. 9 and scored a 39.300. She also won her first-ever event title on vault in the season opener at Auburn. 

Other award winners included junior Madeleine Huber (Scholar-Athlete of the Year), senior Shauna Miller (Most Improved Gymnast and Spirit Award) and senior Tia Allbritten and junior Britney Ward (Co-Postseason Competitors of the Year).
