COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou soccer team suffered a 5-1 home loss to Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at Walton Stadium. The loss dropped the Tigers' record to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2 in Southeastern Conference action, while the Aggies improved to 6-2-1 and 2-1.
TURNING POINT
After Mizzou cut Texas A&M's advantage to 2-1 early in the second half, the Aggies responded with its third goal of the match six minutes later to halt the Tigers' momentum. Texas A&M added goals in the 69th and 81st minutes to secure the victory.
KEY MOMENTS
The Aggies used a pair of goals by Haley Pounds in the 11th and 23rd minutes to go out to a 2-0 lead at the break. The first tally was a rebound shot after junior keeper Kelsey Dossey (Plainfield, Indiana) made a diving glove save on a previous shot.Senior Kaitlyn Clark (Liberty, Missouri) pulled Mizzou within one, 2-1, with her first goal of the season in the 55th minute. She received a pass and dribbled through the Aggie defense toward the top of the box. She sent a low, right-footed strike to the left post that eluded the Texas A&M keeper and went into the back of the net.
