COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following a strong start to the fall season last week, Mizzou Women's Golf travels to Knoxville, Tennessee, to compete in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship on Monday.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Cherokee Country Club, begins at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start and 36 holes of continuous play. Action concludes on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 8 a.m. with the third round of shotgun play.
The Tigers will be one of 15 teams competing at the Mercedes-Benz Championship alongside BYU, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, ETSU, Illinois, Iowa, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, SMU, Tennessee, UTSA and Wake Forest.
Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer brings junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England), junior Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands), junior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.), sophomore Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and senior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) to Knoxville for Mizzou's second tournament of the 2017 season. Sophomore Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) will be participating as an individual.
Last week, the Tigers posted a team score of 2-over (854: 282, 291, 281) at the Jim West Challenge, Mizzou's third-best 54-hole team score in program history. Mizzou also placed sixth overall in a field that featured four teams ranked in the final Golfweek Top 25 last May.
Yuen led the way for Mizzou last week, tying for third overall among 71 competitors at the Jim West Challenge behind a career-low 204 (70, 65, 69). She tallied 13 birdies on her way to the second-best three-round performance by any Tiger in program history.
