No. 14 Nebraska Defeats @MizzouSoccer, 3-0

LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 14 Nebraska claimed a 3-0 win over the Mizzou soccer team Sunday night at Hibner Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Tigers fall to 2-1-1 overall with the loss, while the Huskers improve to 4-0-0.

TURNING POINT
Nebraska struck only 1:04 into the match when Haley Hanson beat redshirt senior keeper Kristen Rivers (Lawrenceville, Georgia) for a 1-0 Husker advantage.

KEY MOMENTS
The Tigers came out strong in the second half, with numerous chances over the first 13 minutes of the frame. However, two Nebraska goals over a three minute span midway through the half put the match out of reach for Mizzou.

QUOTABLES

Mizzou Head Coach Bryan Blitz
"Our team learned a really good lesson against a very good Nebraska team. We put the schedule together for a reason, so we're prepared for the SEC. We're learning how winning is hard. You have to play right from the beginning, you can't give up a goal in the first minute. I believe that our team will take that lesson."

MIZZOU NOTES

  • Seniors Savannah Trujillo (Kansas City, Missouri) and Kaitlyn Clark (Liberty, Missouri) both recorded a team-best two shots in the match
  • Freshman Zoe Cross (Pease Pottage, England) earned the first start of her career
  • Sophomore Peyton Joseph (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) played all 90 minutes. She has now played every minute of three of Mizzou's four games
