Senior Jessica Meek fires a team-low 69 Sunday
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mizzou Women's Golf completed its stay at the 2017 LSU Tiger Classic on Sunday, producing a weekend-low round of 292. The Tigers' strong final round propelled them to a sixth place team finish (896: 300-304-292).
"I'm really pleased with today's finish at the LSU Classic," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We had a really good start and it was nice to see some putts drop. We even had a few chip-ins for some fantastic saves. Jess (Meek) had a great day. She was very consistent with her iron play and took advantage of some nice shots."
"Jess (Yuen) had another great overall event for us and continues to play like a veteran. Emma (Allen) had a nice stretch of birdies for us at the end. Clara (Young) also finished strong with a birdie and par. At events like this, every single stroke we can save is so important. We were able to get some nice wins against some higher ranked teams this weekend."
Over this weekend's three rounds of competition, Mizzou shot 32-over (896: 300-304-292) collectively. The Tigers' strong final round was led by senior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland), as she tallied a season-best 69. Overall, Meek turned in arguably her best performance of the season, finishing T-16th (220: 75-76-69) in the individual rankings.
Freshman Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) paced all Mizzou individual competitors, producing a 219 (3-over: 72-74-73) total score at the University Golf Club. Yuen placed T-11th overall this weekend, marking her fourth top 15 individual finish during the 2016-17 campaign.
Sophomore Emma Allen (Southampton, England) also finished strong on the day, recording a personal tournament-best round of 72. Overall, Allen fell just outside the top 25 individual rankings, shooting a collective 7-over (223: 75-76-72).
