COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball continues its Southeastern Conference portion of the 2017 schedule this weekend at No. 7 Texas A&M. The two teams will meet for the second consecutive season, as the Tigers recorded an impressive sweep last year in Columbia, Mo., against the Aggies.
All three games this weekend in College Station, Texas, will broadcast live over SEC Network + and ESPNU. Friday evening's series opener and Saturday afternoon's matchup will air online via SEC Network +, while Sunday afternoon's series finale will broadcast live on ESPNU. Melissa Lee and Cheri Kempf will be on the call for Mizzou and Texas A&M's Sunday matchup.
The Aggies enter this weekend's series on a six-game winning streak, including an SEC series sweep on the road against Ole Miss last weekend. Texas A&M currently sits T-2nd in the conference standings with a 5-1 mark in SEC play.
Mizzou is coming off a successful 6-1 week (March 13-19), highlighted by four consecutive victories to conclude its run at the 2017 South Florida Tournament in Clearwater, Fla.

- Texas A&M leads the all-time series vs. Mizzou, 38-30.
- In the teams' last meeting, the Tigers claimed a 7-1 victory on April 25, 2016, in Columbia, Mo.

Burnside Enjoys Historical Week at the Plate, Honored by SEC and National Media
- Freshman SS Braxton Burnside enjoyed one of the best weeks in recent Mizzou, SEC and NCAA Softball history, tallying a team-high 12 hits, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 24 TB and 1.091 SLG% over the Tigers' recent outstanding 6-1 stretch (March 13-19).
- For her sensational showing, she earned Week 6 Louisville Slugger / NFCA Division I National Player of the Week, Week 6 USA Softball Collegiate National Co-Player of the Week and Week 6 SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
- Burnside is the first Tiger to be named NFCA National Player of the Week since 2015, courtesy of former All-American Sami Fagan. Additionally, she's the Tigers to be named USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week since 2014 (RHP Tori Finucane).
- Premier game came vs. North Dakota State (March 18) at the South Florida Tournament, as she went 3-for-5 with a 3B, 2 Grand Slams and 10 RBI.
- Her 10 RBI set a new Mizzou Softball 43-year program record, surpassing Tiffany Heick's old mark of 9 (Feb. 27, 1993).
- Additionally, she tied the SEC's 21-year history of most individual RBI in a single game. Burnside is now only 1-of-3 all-time SEC players to record 10 RBI in a single game.
- She became the first SEC player with two grand slams in one game this year and only the 12th player in NCAA Division I history to accomplish the feat.
- 9 HR, 37 RBI, .795 SLG% and 70 TB this season leads all SEC freshmen (8 2B T-1st among SEC freshmen as well).
- Among all NCAA freshmen, she ranks 1st in RBI, 2nd in RBI / G, 3rd in HR and 3rd in TB.
Baumgartner and Baxter Starring in the Circle
- Sophomore RHP Danielle Baumgartner and senior RHP Cheyenne Baxter have keyed the Tigers' strong pitching during the month of March.
- Baumgartner tallied a team-high 18.2 IP this past week (March 13-19), while producing a 2-0 record and 1.50 ERA. Baxter wasn't far behind, tallying a 3-0 record with a 1.87 ERA and 18 Ks over 15.0 IP.
- This month (15 games), Baumgartner (3-1, 1.48 ERA, 27 Ks over 33.0 IP, .205 BAA) and Baxter (4-1, 2.03 ERA, 35 Ks over 38.0 IP) have taken their respective games to the next level.
- Over her last 10 appearances, Baumgartner has allowed 0 ER seven times, including 1 ER or less nine times.
- Baxter has also impressed over her last 10 trips in the circle, limiting the opposition to 1 ER or less eight times.
Mizzou Among SEC and NCAA's Best in 2B and HR Production
- Mizzou's offense has packed quite the firepower through its opening 28 games. In fact, the Tigers' 1.79 doubles per game (6th) and 1.14 home runs per game (15th) both rank top 15 in the NCAA.
- In the SEC team statistical rankings, Mizzou's 50 total doubles (1st) and 32 total home runs (2nd) each place in the upper tier of the conference's teams.
- The high number of extra-base hits has led to 362 total bases this season. Mizzou's .505 team slugging percentage currently ranks 5th in the SEC and 21st in the NCAA.
- Mizzou has recorded at least one double in 23-of-28 games, including multiple doubles in 15 games thus far.
- With the long ball, the Tigers have tallied a home run in 16 games, including multiple trips to #BombCity in nine games.
