COLUMBIA, MO. – No. 41 Mizzou (9-2) heads back out on the road for its Southeastern Conference opener on Friday against No. 17 Arkansas (9-2) in Fayetteville, Ark. It will be Mizzou's 11th match away from Columbia. The Tigers have won each of their last five true road contests.
TIGERS POISED FOR CONFERENCE PLAY
- Mizzou hits the road again after beating Louisiana Tech 5-2 in its season opener. The Tigers started the season with a 10 match road trip that took them through five different states. The team played 10 matches over a span of 21 days and seemed to get better as the trip went on, winning the last four matches, three of which came in the form of 4-0 shutouts.
- Mizzou holds a 3-3 record against Arkansas, and a 1-1 record in Fayetteville since joining the SEC in 2012.
- The Tigers strong play early has resulted in a No. 41 ranking in the ITA National Team Rankings.
- The seniors, Bea Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal) and Cassidy Spearman (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) are coming off of yet another strong performance. Both players won their singles matches and combined for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, giving them each a 10-match win streak. The senior duo comes into play this week with a 7-0 record this season, beating opponents by an overall score of 43-20.
- The Tigers have remarkable depth this year due, in large part, to the play of freshman Tate Schroeder (Centennial, Colo.). Schroeder leads all players on the team with a 8-1 record in singles play this spring and is second on the team with 23 overall victories.
- Junior Amina Ismail (Maineville, Ohio) also finished the weekend 2-0, getting another doubles win with Schroeder at No. 3. The doubles pairing improved to 2-0 with the win. Ismail comes into this weekend with a team-best 27 overall victories to her name and a 7-1 record in singles play this spring, including wins in each of her last six matches.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS
- Arkansas moved up 10 spots in this week's rankings to No. 17 after wining three matches last week against Wichita State, Cornell and Illinois.
- The Razorbacks carry a six-match win streak into play this weekend with their last loss coming in January to UNLV.
- Arkansas has two players in the top-100 for singles. Senior Shannon Hudson sits at No. 63 with sophomore Ana Oparenovic coming in at No. 88.
