
@MizzouVB’s Munlyn & Larson Named 2017 AVCA Southeast All-Region

Duo becomes fifth and sixth all-time Tigers with three-plus All-Region honors
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball junior Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) and redshirt senior Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) were named 2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association Southeast All-Region, announced Tuesday (Dec. 5) by the organization's office.
Munlyn and Larson have both garnered AVCA All-Region accolades in all three years at Mizzou (2015-17). The duo joins former Tigers Carly Kan, Lindsey Hunter, Lisa Henning and Jessica Vander Kooi as individuals to claim three-plus All-Region honors.

"We're very proud of Alyssa and all that she accomplished this year," Mizzou Volleyball head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "Her work in the offseason was phenomenal and it sure paid dividends for her and the program. Alyssa has become a dominating presence and a player that other teams must game plan for. She's truly a great talent and great person."
"We're also very happy that Kira was recognized as an All-Region player as well. She has been a rock for us this year and has really developed as an overall player. The progress Kira made this year in terms of passing and defense has been remarkable and a big key to our success. We're all very proud of everything she has accomplished. Hard work pays off!"
Munlyn once again solidified herself as one of the Southeastern Conference and nation's top middle blockers over her 2017 junior campaign. Heading into the Tigers' Sweet 16 appearance this weekend, Munlyn's 188 total blocks ranks fourth in the country. She also places Top-20 in the nation with 1.47 blocks per set and .391 hitting percentage.
The Tiger middle blocker has reset the program individual single-season total block record in each season at Mizzou. In Munlyn's junior season, she has established new single-season highs with 276 kills, 188 total blocks and 385.0 points. She also surpassed 1,000 career points earlier in the year.
Larson has been a model of consistency since arriving to Mid-Missouri in 2015. The Tiger right side hitter has posted 250-plus kills, .280-plus hitting percentage, 25-plus aces, 115-plus digs 85-plus total blocks and 330-plus points in all three years at Mizzou.
In her 2017 senior campaign, the Fargo, N.D., native currently paces the Tigers with 311 kills, 39 service aces and 399.5 points. Larson's nine double-doubles this year ranks second on the team, including two consecutive double-doubles over the Tigers' NCAA first and second round matchups last weekend in Wichita, Kan.
