@MizzouSwimDive Returns to Action Friday at Saluki Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou mens' and women's swimming and diving teams return to action this weekend for the two-day Saluki Invite in Carbondale, Indiana. The meet, which begins Friday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. CT and finishes Saturday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m., pits the Tigers against Kentucky, Northwestern (men only) and host Southern Illinois. Live results will be available on Meet Mobile.
Friday's events include men's 1-meter, women's 3-meter, 200 free relay, 200 IM, 500 free, 100 breast, 200 back, 100 free, 200 fly and the 400 medley relay. Competition resumes Saturday morning with women's 1-meter, men's 3-meter, 200 medley relay, 1000 free, 50 free, 100 back, 200 breast, 100 fly, 200 free, 400 IM and the 400 free relay.
THE RANKINGS
Both Tiger teams are nationally ranked in this week's TYR Top 25, with the Missouri men clocking in at No. 18 and the women at No. 25. The Kentucky women also come into the Invite nationally ranked, coming in at No. 15.
LIMA NATIONALLY RANKED
Sophomore Giovanny Lima checks in at 13 nationally in the 200 free with a time of 1:36.80. The time, which Lima notched in Mizzou's Oct. 14 dual against South Carolina, is a little over a second off his personal best time. The sophomore has three individual event wins so far this season, with two in the 200 free and one in the 500 free.
LAST TIME OUT
In the teams' only dual action of the season, the Tiger men opened Southeastern Conference action with a 154-144 dual win over South Carolina on Oct 14, while the Tiger women suffered a pair of close losses to Arkansas (167-133) and South Carolina (172-129). The men's race came down to the final event of the meet where the Tigers' 400 free relay team out-touched the Gamecocks to take the victory. Junior Kyle Goodwin and sophomore Daniel Hein each took home two event wins on the day, as Goodwin swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards and Hein touched first in both the 100 back and 200 back. Additionally, senior Hannah Stevens and Lima each notched NCAA 'B' qualifying times in the meet. Stevens notched a 54.57 in the 100 back to nab her 'B' cut, while Lima dropped a 1:36.80 in the 200 free for his qualifying time.
UP NEXT
The Tigers next return to the pool for the three-day Mizzou Invite, which runs Thursday, Nov. 16-Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Preliminary action will begin at 10 a.m. each day, with finals slated to start at 6 p.m.
