COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 5 Mizzou Wrestling (4-0, 0-0 MAC) will wrestle in its first team tournament of the season on Saturday, as the Tigers travel east to St. Charles for the Joe Parisi Lindenwood Open. It will be the first time Mizzou has wrestled as a team at the Lindenwood Open since November 2015 when five Tigers took home individual titles.
Action from St. Charles is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. (CT), with a live stream of the event available on FloWrestling for a fee.
Mizzou has jumped out to a quick start this season, as the Tigers have won their first four duals by a combined score of 186-16, including three shutout victories over Missouri Valley, Truman State and Central Missouri this past Sunday. Mizzou began the season with a 20-17 win over No. 12 Illinois on Nov. 4, inside the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
On Saturday, 30 Mizzou wrestlers will take the mat, including all seven wrestlers who are currently in the individual rankings. Among the ranked Tigers who will take the mat will be No. 4-ranked redshirt sophomore 141-pounder Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.), No. 5-ranked redshirt junior 174-pounder Daniel Lewis (Blue Springs, Mo.) and No. 9-ranked redshirt junior 133-pounder John Erneste (Kansas City, Mo.), all who recorded three falls last Sunday.
Also wrestling on Saturday will be No. 19-ranked redshirt senior 125-pounder Barlow McGhee (Rock Island, Ill.), who recorded one of his biggest career victories at the 2015 Lindenwood Open. Facing 2014 NCAA Finalist and then-No. 2-ranked Zeke Moisey (West Virginia), McGhee upset the Mountaineer by way of major decision, 14-4, to capture the 125 pound title.
Last season at the 2016 Joe Parisi Open, redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Connor Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.), wrestling as a redshirt, captured the 165 pound title with a 5-0 performance that included three wins by bonus points.
