Tigers suffer poor shooting night on first road trip of the season, dropping a 77-59 result

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Mizzou Men's Basketball fell at Utah, 77-59, in its first road game of the season on Thursday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Tigers were able to keep the score within five points for the majority of the first half before the Utes ended the first half on an 8-0 run to open a double-digit lead, one Mizzou was not able to recover from.

Turning Point

Mizzou and Utah traded buckets back-and-forth for the majority of the first half before the Utes ended the half on an 8-0 run to grab a 35-19 lead heading into the break. The Tigers were unable to recover, as Utah scored 16 of the first 23 points in the second half to extend its lead to 25 points.

Top Tigers

Sophomore forward Reed Nikko (Maple Grove, Minn.) was aggressive once again on the boards, matching his career-high with nine rebounds in the game, his second-straight game of at least eight rebounds. Nikko accomplished that feat just once in 2016-17. Nikko scored eight points in the game, just one bucket away from matching his career-best of 10 points.

Senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) led the team in scoring for the second-straight game, scoring 12 points (3-of-10 FG, 1-of-7 3PT), while leading the team with 34 minutes played. Robertson sank each attempt from the free throw line in the game, hitting on 5-of-5. Robertson also dished out five assists, one off his career-best of six.

Freshman forward Jontay Porter (Columbia, Mo.) provided a spark off the bench for the second consecutive game, scoring six points on a perfect 6-of-6 night at the free throw line. Porter also snagged five rebounds in the game, his second-straight game grabbing at least five boards.
