ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The Mizzou soccer team concluded its season with a 7-1 loss to No. 14 Texas A&M Tuesday afternoon in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals in Orange Beach, Ala. The Tigers ended the year 8-12-1 overall on the season, while the Aggies improved to 15-2-1.
TURNING POINT
Texas A&M scored three times in the 20 minutes of the match on goals from Ally Watt to take control early. Watt netted goals in the fourth, 12th and 20th minutes, the second of which was the ultimate game-winner.
KEY MOMENTS
Senior
Jessica Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif.) got the Tigers on the board in the 27th minute with her sixth tally of the season. Sophomore
Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) made a run to the left endline and directed a cross six yards in front of the net. Johnson one-timed the pass into the right corner for a 3-1 Texas A&M lead. Luebbert's assist was her team-leading eighth of the year.
The Aggies added goals in the 47th, 56th and 76th minutes for the eventual 7-1 final.
