COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf got off to a strong start on day one of the 10th annual Johnie Imes Invitational as the Tigers sit in first place after 18 holes of play. The team posted an even par 288 on Monday at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo. The tournament began this morning with tee times starting at 9 a.m. CT and will continue tomorrow with 36 holes of shotgun play to avoid the possible inclement weather on Wednesday.
The team fought hard for their first place spot, as North Texas and ETSU were neck and neck earlier in the day with the Tigers. Junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) had a fantastic day posting a 4-under-par 68. She is currently tied for first individually. It was her eighth career round shooting in the 60s.
Junior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) had a great start to her season, posting a 1-under 71 in her first tournament of the fall campaign. Sophomore Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) also shot 1-under par, claiming her fourth under-par round of the season.
Participating as an individual, sophomore Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) had a spectacular start off the back tallying an eagle on hole 10 and following it with a birdie on hole 11. She matched her career low with a 3-under par 69, totaling four birdies Monday. Participating as an individual as well, junior Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands) crushed her previous career low 18 after posting a 4-under 68. She is currently leading the tournament along with Allen.
Play continues tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT.
