Johnson, Luebbert Tally Goals in 2-1 Win at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Jessica Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif.) and sophomore Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) each notched a goal and an assist as the Mizzou soccer team posted a 2-1 road win at Kentucky Thursday evening in Lexington, Kentucky.

Missouri improved to 6-9-1 overall and 2-5 in Southeastern Conference action, while Kentucky fell to 7-9 and 2-5.

TURNING POINT

With the match knotted at 1-1 late, Luebbert dribbled to the right sideline and sent a cross to the near post. Johnson cut in front of the Kentucky keeper and easily knocked in a one-yard goal for her fifth tally of the year and her second game-winner of 2017.

KEY MOMENTS

Luebbert gave the Tigers a 1-0 advantage in the 27th minute off good ball movement from the offense. Senior Savannah Trujillo (Kansas City, Mo.) lofted a cross from the right side of the field to the far post. Johnson flicked the pass back across the goal to Luebbert, who headed her shot into the right netting. The goal was Luebbert's fifth of the season and fourth in as many games.

The Wildcats responded with a goal of their own in the 53rd minute of action when Miranda Jimenez cut back toward goal and sent a low shot inside the right post.
