COLUMBIA, Mo. – For its third race of the 2016 campaign, the Mizzou Cross Country team will head to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the 28th annual Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday. The men will kick off the day for the Tigers in the 8000m, beginning at 9:45 a.m. CT, followed by the women's 5000m race, which is scheduled to start at 10:20 a.m. CT.
A meet record 65 programs are scheduled to race in the Festival, with 17 states represented.
Junior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa), coming off a first-place finish at the Commodore Classic on Sept. 17, leads the way for the women. Schweizer earned SEC Runner of the Week honors for her performance, shaving 13 seconds off her previous personal-best to pace the field in Nashville.
