- The Tigers own a slight 4-3-2 edge all-time against the Fighting Illini. The two teams last met on Nov. 12, 2012 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they played to a 1-1 tie, with Illinois advancing on penalty kicks, 3-0
- Mizzou went 1-1-0 in its opening weekend, with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Central Arkansas on Aug. 19 and a 2-1 overtime defeat to Iowa on Aug. 21.
- The Tigers erased a 2-0 first half deficit against the Bears in the season opener with three unanswered tallies for the 3-2 win. Senior Lauren Selaiden got Mizzou rolling with a goal in the 31st minute, followed by scores from redshirt freshman Madison Lewis (73rd minute) and freshman Sarah Luebbert (75th minute).
- Mizzou's win over Central Arkansas marked the first time the squad cameback from a 2-0 deficit since a 3-2 win over Kansas on Oct. 21, 2011. In that contest, the Tigers scored two goals in the 85th and one goal in the 89th minute to record the win.
- The Tigers also recovered a 3-1 deficit to notch a 4-3 overtime win against Montana on Sept. 12, 2014.
- The Tigers return eight starters from the 2015 squad that finished second in the Southeastern Conference regular season standings with a 7-2-2 conference mark. Mizzou went 9-5-5 overall on the season.
