CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A goal from freshman Sarah Luebbert helped the Mizzou soccer team earn a 1-1 draw against No. 9 North Carolina in exhibition action Saturday afternoon at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
After a scoreless first half, freshman Sarah Luebbert put the Tigers on the board in the 65th minute of play. Junior Allie Hess played a ball over the top of the Tar Heel defense that found Luebbert. The freshman's initial shot was saved by the North Carolina keeper but knocked the rebound into the back of the net for a 1-0 Mizzou advantage.
Eight minutes later, the Tar Heels notched the equalizer for a 1-1 match.
In the waning minutes, freshman Grace Kitts seemed poised to tally a go-ahead goal but her shot was blocked at the goalline by the North Carolina defense.
