The Hearnes Center will host the 21st annual Tiger Invitational
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball fans will have their first glimpse at this year's squad from Sept. 2-3 at the Hearnes Center for the 21st annual Tiger Invitational. The four-team event in Columbia, Mo., marks the second of four consecutive non-conference tournaments to begin the year.
Joining Mizzou at the Hearnes Center will be Utah, Miami (Ohio) and Rice. The two-day tournament will mark the Tigers' fourth all-time meeting against Utah, first all-time contest versus Miami (Ohio) and fourth all-time matchup against Rice.
Since Wayne Kreklow and Susan Kreklow took over the Mizzou Volleyball program in 2000, the Tigers have accumulated an outstanding 36-5 (.878) record in Tiger Invitational matchups.
The 2016 Tiger Invitational will mark Utah's second all-time visit to Mid-Missouri. Utah last visited the Hearnes Center on Sept. 2, 2005, and the Tigers produced a 3-0 sweep. Miami (Ohio) had a strong 2015 campaign, tallying a 21-10 overall record and 12-4 mark in Mid-American Conference action.
Rice was a Top 75 RPI program last season, recording a 21-10 overall record in the Conference USA. Mizzou is a perfect 3-0 in all-time matchups against the Owls, including a 3-0 sweep in the teams' last meeting on Dec. 7, 2013.
The Tigers will release the remainder of the 2016 schedule on Monday, June 27. Mizzou's final two non-conference tournaments will be revealed, as well as its complete Southeastern Conference schedule.
