Crane named First Team, Fagan tabbed Third Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mizzou Softball seniors Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) and Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.) were honored as 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Americans, as announced Wednesday by the NFCA office.
Crane was named a First Team All-American, while Fagan earned Third Team All-American recognition. The senior duo become the 22nd and 23rd all-time individuals to claim All-American honors in Mizzou Softball history.
Overall, the Tigers have garnered 28 total All-American honors in their 42-year history. Crane becomes only the third individual to garner First Team All-American accolades in Tiger history, joining Chelsea Thomas (2011-13) and Barb Wright (1997).
The two All-Americans this year marks the first time Mizzou has had multiple All-Americans in a season since 2012. Thomas (First Team) and Ashley Fleming (Second Team) led the Tigers' postseason accolades that season. Mizzou's top All-American season occurred in 2011, as Thomas (First Team), Fleming (Second Team) and Rhea Taylor (Third Team) claimed three total awards.
In 2016, Crane compiled one of the top single seasons in Mizzou Softball history. The Tiger right fielder posted a .404 average with 64 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple, 17 home runs, 61 RBI, 25 stolen bases, .516 on-base percentage and .801 slugging percentage.
