COLUMBIA Mo. - Senior forward Ryan Rosburg (Chesterfield, Mo.) recorded 11 points and four rebounds in his final game in a Tiger uniform as Mizzou Men's Basketball (10-21, 3-15) fell to Florida (18-13, 9-9) 82-72 Saturday at Mizzou Arena in its season finale.
Rosburg finished off his senior season averaging a career-high 7.5 points per game and 15.0 over his final nine games. He scored a total of 530 points over his four years at Mizzou, shooting 60.3 percent from the field. The Tigers' game vs. Florida was the 127th game of his career and his 70th start.
Sophomore guard Namon Wright (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Tigers with 19 points against the Gators. It was the eighth time in his past 11 games scoring in double digits. Wright added seven rebounds to finish his sophomore campaign as the squad's leading rebounder with 160 boards - 5.2 per game.
Freshman guard Terrence Phillips (Orange County, Calif.) finished his initial collegiate campaign with a bang, racking up the first double-double of his career. He ended the night with 10 points and tied his season highs in both rebounds (10) and assists (7).
Freshman forward Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs, Mo.) was the fourth Tiger in double digits tonight, scoring 11, along with six rebounds. He also shot a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Puryear led the team in free throw percentage in his freshman year, shooting 83.6 percent (102-of-122). He also led the team in scoring this season with his 11.5-points-per-game average.
The first half was full of excellent passes from Phillips. He finished the half with five assists, including a couple acrobatic passes from underneath the basket resulting in three-pointers from Wright and freshman guard K.J. Walton (Indianapolis, Ind.). Phillips also led the team in rebounds at the halfway point, pulling down seven, the most he has had in one half this year.
Mizzou played well in the second half, outscoring Florida 44-36. Puryear and Wright led the team in second half scoring, each putting up nine. The duo also led the team in second half rebounds, getting five each.
The Tigers tightened the game to a seven-point Florida lead with 1:03 left in the contest through its resilient second-half effort. Florida closed the game out at the free throw line to secure the victory.
