Freshman Jessica Yuen places Top 10 overall
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Mizzou Women's Golf completed its final tournament of the 2016 Fall season on Tuesday at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. Following Monday's second round cancellation, the Tigers and the rest of the field finished their brief two-round 36-hole tournament.
Overall, Mizzou shot 4-under (572: 289-283) and placed 9th in the team standings. Over their four 2016 Fall tournaments, the Tigers placed Top 10 in all but one outing.
Individually, freshman Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) paced Mizzou with a 5-under (139: 70-69) tournament. Yuen placed T-10th overall, marking her second Top 10 performance this season. Sophomore Emma Allen (Southampton, England) joined Yuen as Tigers to shoot under par in Las Vegas. Allen tallied a 1-under (143: 73-70) performance, placing T-36th in the individual standings.
Round #1 (Sunday, Oct. 23)
Mizzou collectively shot 1-over (289) in its first day at the Desert Hawk and Coyote Run courses. Yuen led the Tigers individuals, shooting 2-under (70) with a total of four birdies. Sophomore Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) also had a strong opening round, shooting even par (72) for the day.
The Tigers led all 19 teams on day one in total number of pars (68) and cumulatively recorded nine birdies.
Round #2 (Tuesday, Oct. 25)
Yuen, Allen, sophomore Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands) and junior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) each delivered under par final rounds for Mizzou. Yuen's 3-under (69) final 18-hole performance marked the Tigers' lowest individual round score this tournament.
Overall at the Las Vegas Showdown, Mizzou posted 14 birdies and tournament-leading 65 pars. Yuen shot 2-under on par four holes throughout the tournament, while Harryvan posted a team-best 3-under score on par fives.
