No. 15 Arkansas Outduels @MizzouSoccer, 1-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mizzou soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to No. 15 Arkansas Thursday night in Fayetteville, Ark. The loss dropped the Tigers to 10-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in Southeastern Conference action, while the Razorbacks improved to 14-3-0 and 7-2-0.

Arkansas, which entered the matchup as the SEC's highest scoring team, tallied the game-winner off a corner in the 82nd minute when Jessi Hartzler slotted a shot to the left of Mizzou sophomore keeper Kelsey Dossey (Plainfield, Mo.).

Mizzou seemed destined to take a lead when the squad was awarded a penalty kick in the 62nd minute after freshman Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) was taken down in the box. Junior Allie Hess (Kearney, Mo.) stepped up to the spot for the penalty kick but her shot bounced inches wide right of the goal.

Dossey kept the Razorbacks off-balance for much of the contest, making a season-high six saves.

Less than a minute after Arkansas got on the board, Luebbert raced down the pitch on the counter. She unleashed a rocket from just outside the box but her strike bounced off the left post.

Arkansas had a 24-13 edge in shots but only a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.

The Tigers return to the field on Sunday, Oct. 23 when the team travels to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia at 3 p.m. CT. The match will be televised live on the SEC Network.
