Tigers erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take the lead
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 23 Mizzou Women's Basketball (15-4, 2-4) erased a 14-point fourth quarter deficit but eventually fell 81-77 in overtime to No. 12 Texas A&M (14-5, 4-2) Thursday evening at Reed Arena. Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) led Mizzou with 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists to record her 22nd career double-double. Cierra Porter (Columbia, Mo.) added 20 and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.
During the fourth quarter, Texas A&M led by as many as 14 at 56-42 with 8:46 remaining before the Tigers went on a 14-0 run over 4:13 to eventually tie the score at 58-58 with 2:26 remaining and took the lead at 60-58 with 1:56 left in regulation on a layup by Frericks. Morgan Stock (Town & Country, Mo.) started the run with two consecutive 3-pointers.
The Tigers increased the lead to 63-59 with 1:14 left on a 3-point play by Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.), who finished with nine points. After A&M pulled within one at 63-62 with 43 seconds left, Porter again gave the Tigers a 3-point lead at 65-62 on a driving layup with 17 seconds remaining.
On the following possession, A&M's Courtney Walker was fouled attempting a 3-pointer and converted all three foul shots to tie the score at 65-65 with eight seconds on the clock, eventually forcing overtime. The Tigers outscored the Aggies 25-13 in the fourth quarter.
In the extra period, both teams traded baskets over the first four minutes as the score was tied at 67, 69, 71, 73 and 75 before the Aggies sealed the game at the foul line.
For the game, Mizzou shot 42 percent (30-for-72) from the field, 32 percent (7-for-22) from 3-point range and 71 percent (10-for-14) from the free throw line. A&M shot 47 percent (29-for-62) from the floor and 84 percent (21-for-25) from the foul line.
The Tigers outscored the Aggies 36-24 in the paint and 19-11 in second-chance points.
Texas A&M opened the game on a 13-4 run before Mizzou went on a 9-0 run of its own to even the score at 13-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers defense held the Aggies scoreless for the final 5:48 of the first period.
Over the first 1:40 of the second quarter, Sierra Michaelis (Mercer, Mo.) drained her 100th and 101st career 3-pointers to give Mizzou its first lead while also moving into sole possession of 10th place in program history for career triples. Both teams traded baskets for the remainder of period and the Aggies held on a to 25-23 advantage at halftime. Michaelis finished with 11 points, all in the first half.
A&M outscored Mizzou 26-17 during the third quarter, including a string of eight straight made field goals. The Aggies led 51-40 heading into the fourth period.
Chelsea Jennings led A&M with 22 points and three steals. Walker and Jordan Jones both finished with 20 points. Jones had a game-high six assists.
The Tigers return home to face No. 22 Florida on Sunday for a 1 p.m. CT tipoff on SEC Network.

- Frericks scored a season-high 23 points and tied a career-high with five assists. She also had five at Saint Louis in her NCAA debut on Nov. 8, 2013.
- Against Texas A&M during her career, Frericks is averaging 18.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in four contests. She is averaging 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games played at Reed Arena in College Station.
- Sierra Michaelis drained her 100th career 3-pointer on the first possession of the second quarter. She tied Natalie Bright (1998-02) and Amanda Lasiter (1999-01) for 11th in program history.
- Morgan Stock drained three triples, her second-highest total of the season. She now has 103 in her career, which ranks 10th in team history.
- Michaelis has drained at least three treys in seven games this season.
- Bri Porter drained her first career 3-pointer during the first quarter. She had attempted 12 triples during her career coming into the game.
