COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior guard Wes Clark (Detroit, Mich.) tallied a career-high 22 points on an impressive 9-of-10 shooting performance as Mizzou Men's Basketball (7-6) defeated Savannah State, 81-50, on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Namon Wright (Los Angeles, Calif.), freshman guard K.J. Walton (Brownsburg, Ind.) and freshman forward Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs, Mo.) each posted eight-plus points to round out a balanced Tigers' attack.
Mizzou was outstanding from the field in the first half, hitting 17-of-24 shots (71-percent). The impressive shooting performance marked the Tigers' highest field goal percentage in any half this season.
The Tigers used a 16-6 scoring run midway through the opening half to power their way to a 41-25 advantage after 20 minutes of play. Clark finished the half with a team-high 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
In the final four minutes of the first half and opening five minutes of the second half, Mizzou used an impressive 19-0 scoring run to firmly pull away from Savannah State (4-7). Mizzou continually took advantage of costly turnovers from the visiting Tigers, producing 25 points off of 18 total turnovers.
