The Tiger men earned a 155.5-141.5 win and the women suffered a 164-136 loss to LSU
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a dual against Southeastern Conference foe LSU on Thursday, with the No. 10 men claiming a 155.5-141.5 victory and the No. 19 women dropping a 164-136 loss to the LSU Tigers.
Missouri won 18 events during the meet, led by three along from junior Fabian Schwingenschlogl, who claimed top honors in the 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM. Other double winners included juniors Michael Chadwick (100 and 200 free) and Nick Davis (500 and 1000 free) on the men's side and redshirt senior Abby Duncan (100 and 200 breast) on the women's side.
Schwingenschlogl took home his first win of the day in the 100 breast, where he notched a 54.92, ahead of sophomore Jordy Groters in second in 56.24. In the 200 breast, Schwingenschlogl clocked a time of 1:59.30 for first. He then closed out his day with a 1:50.62 in the 200 IM to take top honors as well.
The women's 100 breast saw Duncan and junior Katharine Ross to one-two with times of 1:00.95 and 1:01.26, respectively. A 2:12.45 in the 200 breast from Duncan also proved enough for the redshirt senior's second win of the meet.
Mizzou opened the meet with a sweep of both 200 medley relays. The women's team of junior Nadine Laemmler, Duncan, freshman Maddie Gehrke and sophomore Rachel Hayden touched first in 1:40.99, while the men's quartet of junior Dillon Love, Schwingenschlogl, junior Andrew Sansoucie and Chadwick won their race in 1:29.12.
In the 1000 free, sophomore Kira Zubar claimed top honors after a swim of 10:08.98 for the women, while Davis won his first event of the day in a time of 9:35.54. Davis also posted a time of 4:37.09 to place first in the 500 free.
Chadwick paced Mizzou in the men's 200 free, clocking a time of 1:38.86 for the win. He then swam a 43.85 to finish first in the 100 free.
In the diving well, freshman Kyle Goodwin scored a career best 374.48 on 3-meter to take home the win, ahead of senior Clark Thomas in second with 356.48 points. Thomas won an event of his own with 362.18 on 1-meter to pace the rest of the field. Sophomore Alexa Beckwith won the women's 1-meter with a score of 284.25.
Back in the pool, sophomore Hannah Stevens swam a 55.08 to win the women's 100 back, ahead of Laemmler in second in 55.66. Laemmler then claimed top honors in the 100 back in 1:58.78, while Stevens was third in 2:00.59.
Also an event winner on the day was sophomore Sharli Brady, who notched a time of 4:57.14 to place first in the 500 free.
