@MizzouMensGolf's Walker Named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Junior Euan Walker (Troon, Scotland) was named Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, May 4, as announced by the league office.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior Euan Walker (Troon, Scotland) was named Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, May 4, as announced by the league office.

Walker has been a force for head coach Mark Leroux's Tigers on the course and in the classroom, compiling a 4.0 cumulative grade point average in mathematics while appearing in Mizzou's lineup for the entire 2015-16 season. Walker proved to be one of Mizzou's most consistent golfers this past season, recording a 73.4 stroke average, good enough for second-best on the squad. He was the Tigers' first or second-best finisher in six of Mizzou's 10 events during the 2015-16 campaign.

The honor is the second conference recognition in Walker's career, as the Tiger earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team as a newcomer in 2013-14.

Two Mizzou golfers have earned SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition since the program joined the conference for the 2012-13 season. Former Mizzou standout Hunter Kraus earned the award following the Tigers' inaugural campaign in the league.

Additionally, sophomore Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) was named to the SEC's Community Service Team for his ongoing contributions to the local community. Buckley finished his second Black & Gold campaign as Mizzou's top golfer, posting a team-best 72.9 stroke average.
