ATLANTA – For the first time in program history, the Mizzou men's swimming and diving team earned points in the 800 free relay to open day one action at the 2016 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday evening in Atlanta, Ga. The Tigers placed 11th overall in the event with a school record time.

ATLANTA – For the first time in program history, the Mizzou men's swimming and diving team earned points in the 800 free relay to open day one action at the 2016 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday evening in Atlanta, Ga. The Tigers placed 11th overall in the event with a school record time.

As the only event of the evening, Mizzou enters day two in 11th-place with 12 points.

The Tiger foursome of junior Michael Chadwick, freshman Mikel Schreuders and juniors Carter Griffin and Fabian Schwingenschlogl raced to a program record 6:18.25, nearly a second faster than the old school mark set at last month's Southeastern Conference Championships. Additionally, Chadwick clocked a 1:33.64 in the leadoff leg of the relay to break his own 200 free Mizzou record of 1:34.11, also set at SECs in February.

Day two action at the NCAA Championships begins Thursday with swimming prelims at 9 a.m. CT, diving prelims at 11:30 a.m. CT and finals at 5 p.m. CT.
