@MizzouSwimDive Claims Sweep Over Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned a sweep over Division II power Drury Friday evening at Breech Pool in Springfield, Mo. The Tiger women notched a 185-56 win over the Panthers, while the men claimed a 143-97 victory.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned a sweep over Division II power Drury Friday evening at Breech Pool in Springfield, Mo. The Tiger women notched a 185-56 win over the Panthers, while the men claimed a 143-97 victory.

Missouri won 18 events during the meet, including a pair of wins from senior Clark Thomas and sophomore Kira Zubar. Thomas, the reigning Southeastern Conference Male Diver of the Week, swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, while Zubar earned wins in the 500 and 1000 free events.

The teams opened the dual with a sweep in the women's and men's 200 medley relays. The women's squad of junior Nadine Laemmler, redshirt senior Abby Duncan and freshmen Maddie Gehrke and Iliana Jones touched first in 1:42.09, while the men's quartet of redshirt senior Dillon Love, juniors Fabian Schwingenschlogl and Andrew Sansoucie and senior Matthew Margritier took first in 1:29.59.

Zubar claimed the first of her two wins in the 1000 free after a swim of 10:11.35. Later in the meet, the sophomore touched the wall in 5:00.29 in the 500 free for the distance free sweep.

In the diving well, Thomas notched a six-round score of 382.15 on 1-meter to earn the win. He then tallied 378.15 points on 3-meter to place first, ahead of freshman Kyle Goodwin's total of 369.52.

Additionally, sophomore Alexa Beckwith scored a season best 303.40 to take the win on 1-meter for the women, while classmate Madeline McKernan earned top honors on 3-meter with 300.15 points, also a season high.

Senior Daniel Graviss and junior Nadine Laemmler earned wins in the 200 IM for an event sweep for the Tigers. Graviss touched the wall in 1:51.58, ahead of teammate Eddie Mapel in 1:53.17, while Laemmler took first with a 2:05.01, just in front of senior Miranda Mercke's 2:05.52.

Mizzou also won both the men's and women's 100 back and 100 breast races against the Panthers. On the women's side, sophomore Hannah Stevens took first in the 100 back (56.31) and redshirt senior Abby Duncan touched the wall in 1:00.68 in the 100 breast. For the men, junior Carter Griffin swam a 50.43 to win the 100 back and Schwingenschlogl raced to a 55.13 in the 100 breast for the victory.

Also winners on the day were senior Anna Patterson in the 200 free (1:51.74), sophomore Erin Metzger-Seymour in the 100 fly (55.36) and junior Nick Davis in the 500 free (4:37.75).

The Mizzou women closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 free relay, where Stevens, Hayden, junior Victoria Trost and Patterson clocked a time of 1:35.14.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23 as the team takes on Missouri State at Noon in Springfield.
