Mizzou Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie at Northwestern

EVANSTON Ill. – Mizzou Soccer played to a 0-0, double-overtime tie for the second consecutive match as the Tigers tied Northwestern in a scoreless affair on Sunday night (Sept. 7) at Toyota Park. Mizzou outshot Northwestern, 16-5, but could not solve Wildcat goal keeper Lauren Clem, who had six saves. Mizzou keeper Kelsey Dossey made four saves and the Tiger defense limited Northwestern to just five shots on the night.

Regan Russell led the Tigers with four shots while playing 75 minutes. One of her four shots landed on net. Kaitlyn Clark, Lauren Flynn and Jessica Johnson were among Tiger starters to tally shots on goal while Savannah Trujillo and Jessica Herrman had shots coming off the bench.

10 of Mizzou's 16 shots came in the second half as it kept the pressure on throughout the night. The Tigers also out-shot Northwestern, 4-2, over two overtimes as the Tigers had the Wildcats on their heels all night. In fact, Northwestern did not tally a shot in the second half or the first overtime as Mizzou's defense played very well.

Candace Johnson and Jasmine Johnson played all 110 minutes for Coach Bryan Blitz's team and Flynn played in 105 of the 110 minutes.

Mizzou will be back in action on Friday (Sept. 11) against Auburn at Audrey J. Walton Stadium. For all the latest on Mizzou Soccer, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouSoccer.
