Mizzou Upsets No. 36 Arkansas In First Round Of SEC Tournament

The 4-3 match victory is the Tigers' first SEC win of the Spring 2015 season
COLUMBIA, S.C. - After going winless during their 2015 Southeastern Conference regular season schedule, Mizzou tennis roared back Wednesday afternoon with a 4-3 upset victory over No. 36 Arkansas Razorbacks in the first round of 2015 SEC Women's Tennis Tournament.
The Tigers got off to a great start against Arkansas, as they took two consecutive doubles matches and claimed the first team point. Arkansas responded early in singles play however, taking the first three contests.
Mizzou needed wins in the remaining three singles matchups to take the overall match. The Tigers did just that behind victories from sophomore Beatriz Machado Santos, freshman Clare Raley, and junior Madison Rhyner.
Raley now stands with a team leading three conference singles wins this season. Santos tallied her second SEC singles victory today, while Rhyner earned her first conference triumph of the Spring 2015 campaign.
Wednesday's win gave Mizzou their first SEC win of the season, and their first triumph over a nationally ranked opponent. The Tigers' thrilling comeback was their first team victory since Feb. 21, 2015.
Mizzou continues 2015 SEC Tournament play tomorrow afternoon at Carolina Tennis Center. The No. 14 seed Tigers face No. 6 seed LSU at 1 p.m. (CT). Fans can follow the action on Twitter (@MizzouTennis) and the SEC Tournament's home page (GameCocksOnline.com).
