NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tigers continued SEC play Friday evening at No. 12 Vanderbilt, and dropped a 6-1 match to the Commodores. Despite the team loss, freshman Clare Raley captured a significant win, as her straight sets victory at No. 6 singles was her first career SEC singles win.
The victory at No. 6 singles also snapped a wineless streak at that particular spot for Raley. The Atlanta, Ga. native entered today's match with a 0-4 mark at No. 6 singles, compared to a perfect 3-0 mark a step up at No. 5 play.
Mizzou doubles dropped their first two matches of the day to give Vanderbilt the opening team point. Sophomores Brittany Lashway and Beatriz Machado Santos were up 6-3 at No. 3 action before their match was stopped due to a clinching Commodores win.
Later on at singles play, Vanderbilt's five ranked players proved to be too much as they won all of their respective matches.
Mizzou concludes their weekend trip on Sunday, March 22 at No. 22 Kentucky. The Tigers and Wildcats begin competition at 9 a.m. (CT).
