
Mizzou's Underclassmen earn Top Finishes at Seminole Match Up

Tallahassee, Fla. - Mizzou came out strong in the third round of play, led once again by freshman Clara Young. Young shot 2-under par through the third round to close the tournament just 1-over par. She sat at even par through her first nine holes, closing the tournament strong with two birdies in her final nine holes. The Scotland, native, earned herself a fifth place finish individually.
As a team, Mizzou had its best outing of the tournament, shooting just 5-over par in the third round. Mizzou scored 300-299-293 in the tournament to close play 28-over par and finish in ninth place. 26th-ranked tournament Furman took home the title after a 7-under par team finish in the third round. Both No. 17 Virginia and No. 9 Mississippi State closed the tournament 19-over par to tie for second place.
Sophomore Jess Meek also had a great performance for Mizzou as she shot 3-over par in the tournament to earn an 11th place finish. Meek put up a score 2-over par in the third round of play after shooting 73-72 in the first two rounds.
Both Michelle Butler and Laura Kraft shot 14-over in the tournament to tie for 43rd place overall. Butler finished with her best performance of the tournament, closing the third round just 3-over par. She tallied three birdies including back-to-back holes in her first nine.
Senior Alina Rogers also had her best outing on the final day of play. The Canada, native was 1-under par after her first nine holes and ended the day just 2-over. She scored 15-over par in total to place 46th in the tournament.
The Seminole Match Up was played at Southwood Golf Course a 6,236 yard, Par 72 course. The Tigers faced a competitive field of 12 teams. In addition to the Seminoles, Mizzou faced Troy, Kennesaw State, Mississippi State, East Tennessee State, South Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Virginia, Georgia State, Furman and Texas A&M.
The Tigers will continue their spring season at the Julie Inkster, Feb. 23 and 24, in San Jose Calif.
