
Women's Golf Leading After Day One in Augusta

Mizzou women's golf opened play in the Valspar Augusta Invitational Saturday, finishing day one with a nine shot lead, with all five golfers inside the top-20.
Senior Melanie Walker leads the field through 36 holes after carding a four-under 68 in the opening round. She found eight birdies and an eagle on the day, finishing with a one-stroke lead at four-under.
Freshman Ebba Liljeberg and senior Jade Zamora both closed the day at two-under in a tie for fourth place. Liljeberg's day was lifted by five birdies on the front-nine in her second round to post a three-under 69. Zamora had seven birdies on the day, including five during the opening-round.
Senior Addie Dobson recorded a two-under 70 in the second round to finish at one-under on the day in 13th. Junior Fleur van Beek also posted a two-under 70 in the second round, which saw her climb 13 spots into 16th at even-par.
Overall, all five Tigers closed the first day inside the top-20 in the field of 88 players. At -12, MU finished day one in first with a nine shot lead.
Missouri will be back in action at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday for round three in Georgia.
