#MIZvsARK Post-Game Notes

Mizzou Team Notes

  • The all-time series between Mizzou and Arkansas now stands at 5-3 in favor of Mizzou with Arkansas' win Friday snapping a two-game win streak by the Tigers dating back to the 2008 Cotton Bowl.
  • This is the second meeting since the teams have been playing in the Battle Line Rivalry Presented by Shelter Insurance® and the series is now split at one win apiece with Mizzou winning last year in Columbia, 21-14.
  • The loss drops Mizzou to 5-7 on the year while Arkansas moves to 7-4 and 4-3 in SEC play.
  • Mizzou is now 23-17 all-time against SEC West opponents.

Mizzou Defense Notes

  • Senior LB Kentrell Brothers tallied a TFL on Arkansas' first drive of the game, moving him into double digits on the year, giving Mizzou three players with 10+ TFLs this season. The 12 TFLs on the season for Brothers are a new career-high and Mizzou has three players with 10+ TFLs for the first time since 2013 (Michael Sam, Kony Ealy, Markus Golden). It is just the third time since 2008 that Mizzou has had three players with 10+ TFLs.
  • Brothers finished the game with 12 tackles, moving his season total to 152. That mark currently rank fourth in school history for tackles in a single season. Brothers now has 358 tackles in his career, which ties Sean Doyle (1999-02) for eighth on Mizzou's all-time career tackles list.
  • Brothers has now been over double-digits in tackles in seven consecutive games and 11 of Mizzou's 12 games this season. He is the first Tiger ever to post 10+ tackles in seven consecutive games under Gary Pinkel.
  • Junior DT Rickey Hatley tallied his first sack of the season on Arkansas' second drive. It was his second career sack and first since Sept. 13, 2014, when he had one against UCF at Memorial Stadium.
  • Freshman P Corey Fatony punted seven times on Friday, giving him 80 on the season, establishing a new Mizzou single season record. The previous record was held by Jason Smith, who had 79 in 1995.
  • Mizzou tallied nine tackles for loss on Friday. Mizzou has had at least seven tackles for loss in 11 of 12 games this season.
  • Mizzou's 106 tackles for loss match their total from a season ago (14 games) and Mizzou has now had more than 100 TFLs in each of the last three seasons (106 in 2015, 104 in 2014 and 107 in 2013). Keep in mind both 2014 and 2013 were 14-game seasons.
  • LB Donavin Newsom registered a new career-high with 10 tackles on Friday.
  • CB Aarion Penton pulled in his first interception of the season on Friday in the fourth quarter to halt an Arkansas drive. It was his first since Nov. 1, 2014, against Kentucky. He led Mizzou with three picks a year ago.

Mizzou Offense Notes

  • Mizzou senior C Evan Boehm made his 52nd consecutive start and 40th consecutive start at center on Friday, which is a school record. The previous best was 50 by three different Tigers.
  • Senior K Andrew Baggett connected on a 35-yard FG in the second quarter. He is now just eight points away from the all-time career scoring record at Mizzou.
