BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Mizzou Women's golf returns to the course Sunday–Tuesday for the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The tournament is hosted by UNLV.
Mizzou's lineup includes Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.), Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland), Emma Allen (Southampton, England), Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) and Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.).
"The Las Vegas Showdown is a great event to finish the fall season," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "Teams can go low on this golf course if the conditions are right, and if there are high winds and cooler temperatures out there, this course can be quite a challenge. We have always enjoyed going to Las Vegas and have had quite a bit of success out there, so we are looking forward to finishing the fall season strong."
The field includes California-Irvine, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Indiana, Long Beach State, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, Tennessee, Texas and Vanderbilt.
The Tigers won back-to-back tournaments in September at the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman and the following week on their home course at the Johnie Imes Invitational. At the Lady Paladin, the team won with an overall score of 871 (+7). There were 16 teams that participated in the tournament and the Tigers finished eight shots ahead of second-place Furman (+15). During the Johnie Imes, Mizzou finished two strokes shy of the NCAA Division I scoring record with a new 54-hole team record of 39-under par with a total score of 825.
Mizzou ranks in the top 10 in the country in scoring average. Meek leads the team by and is currently No. 72 nationally. In 2013 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Butler took fourth place by shooting 2-under par.
