Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sophomore Jessica Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored 39 seconds into overtime to give the Mizzou soccer team a 2-1 overtime win over Alabama Friday night in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The win improved the Tigers' record to 8-4-4 overall and 6-2-1 in Southeastern Conference action, while the Crimson Tide fell to 5-10-2 and 2-7-0.
In overtime, senior Reagan Russell (Sugar Land, Texas) dribbled down the right side, cut into the box and sent a shot on goal that was saved by the Alabama keeper. The rebound bounced right to Johnson, who knocked the game-winner into the left side of the net for a 2-1 Mizzou win.
The Tigers outshot the Crimson Tide 21-11 in the match and had an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
Mizzou struck first off a set piece in the 16th minute. After earning a corner, sophomore Kaitlyn Clark (Liberty, Mo.) send a driven kick to the far post. Redshirt senior Lauren Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) outjumped the defense and headed a shot into the right netting for her third tally of the season and a 1-0 Mizzou advantage.
Alabama equalized on a second-chance opportunity in the 82nd minute of action. Stationed on the left post, Clark cleared a shot off the line. However the rebound went to the top of the box, where Alabama's Chatham DeProspo sent a laser into the upper 90 for a 1-1 contest.
Both teams had chances in the final eight minutes of regulation but neither could capitalize.
Rivers made two saves in net in the contest.
