Strong Tigers' serving (new season-high of 10) leads the way on Sunday
ATHENS, Ga. – Mizzou Volleyball closed its weekend in style on Sunday with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) sweep over Georgia. The Tigers improved their record to 17-2 overall and 5-1 in the SEC following their victory.
"We played well today and consistently answered any runs by Georgia," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "I was real pleased with our focus and execution in the serving game. That really set the tone throughout the match."
Mizzou set a new season-high in service aces with 10 total against the Bulldogs.
The two teams traded runs early on, leading to a 17-17 first set score midway through. Mizzou ended the set in a big way, tallying an impressive 8-0 to claim a 25-17 triumph. The Tigers posted a .348 hitting percentage and three service aces to lead their potent attack.
In the second set, sophomore Courtney Eckenrode (The Woodlands, Texas) reeled off four consecutive service aces to pull Mizzou away. Overall, Eckenrode tallied six service aces against the Bulldogs, cruising past her previous career-high of three.
Junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) and freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) each capped off their strong afternoons with four kills apiece in the third and final set.

The Tigers return to Columbia, Mo., on Friday, Oct. 23, with a matchup against Mississippi State. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT) at the Hearnes Center and will broadcast live on SEC Network+ via WatchESPN.
