Mizzou Softball Adds Chase Nelson To 2015 Freshman Class

Mizzou softball added to its highly regarded freshman class of 2015 with the addition of infielder Chase Nelson, as announced today by Head Coach Ehren Earleywine.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou softball added to its highly regarded freshman class of 2015 with the addition of infielder Chase Nelson, as announced today by Head Coach Ehren Earleywine.

Nelson, a three-time all-state and four-time all-conference player for Paragould High School in Paragould, Ark., brings a wealth of athleticism and versatility to the Tigers roster. In her junior season, Nelson broke school single-season records with her .500 batting average, 51 hits, 49 runs scored, 18 doubles and eight triples.

The talented future Tiger concluded her high school career in style this past season, as she hit .556 with 49 runs scored, eight doubles, eight triples, four home runs, 48 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.

Altogether, Nelson accumulated impressive career stats with a .470 batting average, 198 hits, eight home runs, 131 RBIs and 81 stolen bases. The Paragould, Ark., native also shined in the circle for the Rams, as she picked up 26 career wins.

In addition to her career at Paragould High School, Nelson played travel ball for Arkansas Heat under Head Coaches Rex Nelson and Harold Burnside.

Nelson had previously been committed to the University of Arkansas, before ultimately deciding to play for Missouri and Coach Earleywine. She picked the Tigers over Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.
