Columbia, Mo.-- Mizzou Softball dropped its series finale against No. 8 Auburn, falling 10-8 on Sunday at University Field. Mizzou moves to 22-7 on the year, with a 5-4 record in the SEC.

After a scoreless first inning, Auburn and Missouri exchanged runs in the second. Auburn plated two in the top of the inning off Tiger starter freshman Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa).

Senior Kelsea Roth (Yorba Linda, Calif.) led off the bottom of the second with a single up the middle. With the hit, Roth extended her on-base streak to 19 games, which is a career-high. Roth advanced to second on a single from Jordan Zolman (Arbyrd, Mo.) and came in to score on an RBI single from catcher Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.). The home Tigers tied the score at two after an error.

Senior Corrin Genovese's (East Amherst, N.Y.) two-run home run in the third inning put Mizzou ahead 4-2. The two-run blast was Genovese's second long ball of the season.

Auburn responded in the fourth. With two outs and the bases empty, Lowary surrendered two singles and two walks, allowing Auburn to pull within one. Tori Finucane (Germantown, M.D.) came in to relieve and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded knotted the score at 4-4. Fincuane battled in 3.0 innings of the circle, fanning six batters and allowing zero earned runs.

After both teams traded two scoreless frames, Auburn manufactured a six-run seventh frame. All six runs were unearned.

Mizzou rallied to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh. With two runners on following an RBI ground out, Zolman launched her first career home run. The three-run shot sliced Mizzou's deficit to two, but the home squad's valiant comeback attempt fell short.

Mizzou Softball returns to action at home Wednesday, April 1, when it takes on Saint Louis University at 4 p.m. For all the latest on Mizzou Softball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouSoftball.
