Mizzou Looks to Defend Title at Bandon Dunes Championship

Bandon, Ore.--Mizzou Golf is tied for third with Duke after the first round of the Bandon Dunes Championship with a score of 3-under-par 285. The annual tournament hosted by Gonzaga runs from March 13-15, on the par 72, 6,830-yard course at Bandon Dunes Resort.

For the second time this season, Mizzou is competing in a tournament it won during 2013-14. The Tigers claimed back to back titles at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate in September and will be looking to do the same this weekend in Oregon.

UC Davis leads the field at 7-under-par 281, while St. Mary's (CA) sits in second at 5-under-par 283. Other competitors include Army, Colorado, Gonzaga, Hartford, Loyola Marymount, CSU-Northridge, San Jose St., Stephen F. Austin, UMKC, UNC-Wilmington, Utah Valley and Washington State.

Senior Ryan Zech paced the Tigers during the first round, carding a 2-under-par 70 to finish tied for sixth. Zech tied for 12th at the 2014 tournament.

Sophomore Linus Lilliedahl begins the second round tied for 14th at 1-under-par 71. The Bandon Dunes Championship was one of three events Lilliedahl competed in during his freshman campaign.

Euan Walker and Hayden Buckley carded rounds of even-par 72 to tie for 25th.

Freshman Luigi Botta posted a 3-over-par 75 in his first appearance at the Bandon Dunes Championship, concluding play tied for 52nd.
