Molly Kreklow Named to US National Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou volleyball setter and First Team AVCA All-American Molly Kreklow (Delano, Minn.) has been selected to the USA Volleyball Women's National Team, as announced by head coach Karch Kiraly and USA Volleyball on Monday (May 12). Kreklow was one of two setters selected to the World's No. 2-ranked team that will comprise Team USA at the NORCECA World Championship Qualification Tournament being held May 15-18 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"I'm really excited for this USA team - they put in the mindful effort during training earlier this year, and earned the right to represent our country at the World Championship Qualifier in Colorado Springs," U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly said. "During the eight weeks of the training block, the primary focus was on learning, and this group did a really strong job in that department. It will be great to see that in action with our resident coach David Hunt at the helm this week, against NORCECA zone competition."
Outside hitters selected for the tournament are Hayley Hodson (Newport Beach, Calif.), Kat Luft (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Maddie Martin (Tampa, Fla.) and Kelly Reeves (San Diego, Calif.). The middle blocker trio includes Chloe Ferrari (Clovis, Calif.), Alexis Olgard (Spokane, Wash.) and Katie Slay (Raleigh, N.C.). Opposite hitters are Kylin Munoz (Monroe, Wash.) and Bailey Webster (Baltimore, Md.), while the setters are Kreklow and Lauren Plum (Poway, Calif.). The designated libero is Kristen Hahn (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).
The U.S. Women open pool play on May 15 against Guatemala, followed by Panama on May 16 and Honduras on May 17. All three U.S. pool matches are scheduled for 3 p.m. MT. The medal round matches take place on May 18 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. MT. The tournament winner advances to the FIVB Women's World Championship set for Sept. 23 to Oct. 12 in six Italian cities.
