Mizzou Basketball Post Game Notes
Missouri was once again led by the guard tandem of Jabari Brown (15) and Jordan Clarkson (14). The juniors scored a combined 29 points in the 68-58 loss at Florida, including solid 5-of-12 shooting from three-point range.
Brown hit 3-of-7 treys, marking his eighth consecutive game with three or more triples, all in league action. Included in Brown's three-point success was a 40-footer to close out the opening half.
While Florida made a strong effort to slow down Brown's scoring opportunities, the junior adjusted his game and he tied a career high with six assists. Just as impressive was the fact he had zero turnovers against the UF pressure. Brown also had six assists earlier this season in a home win over South Carolina.
Brown and Clarkson have now reached double figures in 22 consecutive games to open the year. The last Tiger with 22+ games of double-figure scoring was Melvin Booker (23 consecutive) during the 1993-94 campaign.
Missouri led, 28-25, at the break in Gainesville before a late Florida surge over the final eight minutes. The lead did mark the first time the Gators have trailed at home all season at the half.
Ryan Rosburg scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds on Tuesday night. The eight points tied his high in SEC play. He also had eight points in games against South Carolina and Arkansas. The seven rebounds were his second highest of the year in league action (nine at Arkansas).
Torren Jones gave Mizzou good minutes off the bench. He played 14 minutes overall, a career high, and had four points and three boards. His previous high for playing time came at Auburn (13 minutes).
Another freshman, Wes Clark, continues to trend upward for Mizzou. The rookie point guard hit a pair of late-shot clock treys and finished with six points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes. The two triples were the most for Clark since he went 3-of-3 from bonus distance in the season-opener against Southeastern Louisiana.
Florida out-rebounded Missouri 33-32. It was just the third time the Tigers have been out-rebounded this year. Missouri did limit Florida to just six second-chance points tonight and Mizzou won the offensive glass 13-12. Johnathan Williams grabbed a game high five offensive caroms.
