Cox Takes Home MAC Wrestler of the Week Honors

Dec. 4, 2014

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Tiger Style sophomore J'den Cox was named the MAC Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 24-30, as announced today by the Mid-American Conference (MAC) office. The Columbia, Mo. native went a perfect 3-0 at last Saturday's (Nov. 29) Northeast Duals in Troy, N.Y.

Cox's highlight victory came against No. 12 (HWT) Ross Larson of Oklahoma. The 3-1 decision ranked win was even more impressive as Cox moved up a weight class for the matchup from his usual 197 pound level. With the victory, Cox stands at a perfect 10-0 overall for the 2014-15 campaign.

Last season, Cox became the fourth all-time Mizzou wrestler to win a National Championship after defeating Ohio State's Nick Heflin at the 2014 NCAA Championships. Shortly after his standout 38-2 season came to an end, Cox picked up the 2014 MAC Freshman of the Year and 2014 MAC Wrestler of the Year awards.

Cox has helped lead the Tigers to a 7-0 start this season, as the team is currently ranked No. 5 in the country according to the latest USA Today / NWCA Division I Coaches Poll.
