Dec. 3, 2014

Emily Wilson landed on this year's SEC Community Service Team.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou volleyball senior Emily Wilson (Omaha, Neb.) was named to the SEC Volleyball Community Service Team, announced by the league office on Wednesday morning (Dec. 3). Wilson was one of 12 members of the Community Service Team, which included one student-athlete who exemplifies service to their community from each SEC school.

Wilson put together a strong season of volunteering in Columbia this year and throughout her entire career as a Tiger. Among her service projects was participating in the Mizzou volleyball elementary youth leagues, where she taught before-school volleyball classes to elementary-age children once a week for two months. Additionally, she participated in a free youth clinic to teach volleyball to young children and took part in a meet-and-greet in conjunction with MU Children's Hospital at the Columbia Mall.

Wilson also frequently visited local retirement communities such as Boone Landing and Lenoir Retirement Homes, and she played with children at Going Bonkers, a local Columbia business. She helped throw a beach party for children at Wilson's Pool, giving children free volleyball lessons at the pool in addition to working with the local area Girl Scouts.
