SAN DIEGO, Calif. - After another successful day at the Aztec Tennis Center, Mizzou tennis will send five members to bracket finales tomorrow. Three Tigers will have a chance at singles championships Sunday, while two Mizzou doubles tandems will have a shot at event titles.
Junior Kelli Hine, freshman Brianna Lashway and sophomore Brittany Lashway all reached their respective singles championship matches following wins today. Hine defeated UTEP's Davina Meza (6-4, 6-4) in the "Red" bracket, Brianna Lashway advanced in the "Green" bracket due to a withdraw and Brittany Lashway defeated Denver's Ery Van Genechten (7-5, 6-4) in the "Grey" bracket.
In doubles semifinals action, senior Alex Clark and teammate Brianna Lashway defeated San Diego State's Tami Nguyen and Dora Somoracz (8-3) to advance to the "Red" bracket finale. Over at the "Black" doubles bracket, sophomore Beatriz Machado Santos and Hine defeated UC Irvine's Sarah Gong and Arisha Ladhani (8-5).
In additional singles matches Saturday, Santos fell to Air Force's Natasha Rizvi (3-6, 6-3, 10-7) and Clark fell in the semifinals to Air Force's Chloe Forlini (6-4, 6-3). Brianna Lashway also picked up another victory over San Diego's Marisa Marsh (6-0, 6-0).
To close out day two of action in San Diego, Calif., junior Madison Rhyner and Brittany Lashway continued doubles play and defeated Air Force's Natasha Rizvi and Jocelle Rudico (8-4).
The San Diego State Fall Classic concludes Sunday morning with action once again beginning at 9 a.m. (PT).
