SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Mizzou tennis began their last tournament of the Fall 2014 season Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center, and finished the day winning six-of-eight matches. Senior Alex Clark, freshman Brianna Lashway and junior Kelli Hine all finished a perfect 2-0 on the day.
The Tigers kicked off Friday morning with doubles play and claimed a pair of victories. Clark and Brianna Lashway defeated Washington's Elianne Douglas-Miron and Miki Kobayashi (8-2) and were followed by Hine and sophomore Beatriz Machado Santos defeating San Diego State's Hailey Johnson and Kennedy Davis (8-2).
Also in doubles play for the Tigers, junior Madison Rhyner and sophomore Brittany Lashway fell to UTEP's Jeannez Daniel and Matilda Tench (8-6).
Up next, Mizzou moved to their respective singles draws and picked up four more victories. Brittany Lashway led off with a win over UC Irvine's Jennifer Andra (6-2, 6-1). Hine then defeated San Diego State's Tami Nguyen (6-3, 4-6, 10-6) and Clark proceeded with a victory over UC Irvine's Ali Facey (6-4, 2-6, 10-3).
In the last two matches of the evening, Brianna Lashway defeated UC Irvine's Cassidy Branstine (6-2, 6-0) and then Santos dropped a long battle to UC Irvine's Kat Facey (7-5, 6-4).
