TEAM

  • With Mizzou's 21-14 victory vs. Arkansas, the Tigers reach 10 wins for the fifth time in head coach Gary Pinkel's 14-year tenure.
  • The win clinched the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division Championship for Mizzou, with the Tigers becoming just the fourth SEC Eastern program all-time to win back-to-back divisional titles. Florida accomplished the feat from 1992-96, 1999-2000 and 2008-09. Georgia won the division from 2002-03 and 2011-12. Tennessee did so from 1997-98.
  • Mizzou (10-2, 7-1 SEC) will make its second appearance in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Dec. 6. Mizzou's two SECCG appearances in just three seasons in the SEC are more than six other SEC programs (Mississippi State, South Carolina 1; Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt 0).
  • The victory improved Pinkel's program to a remarkable 25-7 in November since 2007
  • Mizzou improved to 4-2 all-time vs. Arkansas with the victory, including 2-0 at Memorial Stadium.
  • Mizzou executed a two-point conversion by pass successfully in the fourth quarter on a WR reverse pass from WR Bud Sasser to WR Jimmie Hunt, the first time such a play occurred for the Tigers since the 2007 Big 12 Championship Game when  WR Jeremy Maclin threw to TE Martin Rucker.
  • With DE Markus Golden's second quarter forced fumble (recovered by LB Donavin Newsom), the Tigers have 16 forced fumbles as a team in 2014.
  • Mizzou was held without a score in the first quarter for just the third time all season, with the Tigers outscoring opponents 83-46 in the opening period in 2014.
  • Mizzou recognized its 21-member senior class prior to the game. The group included: Christian Brinser (P - Liberty, Mo.); David Butler (DL - Kansas City, Mo.); Stephen Carberry (OL - Belleville, Ill.); Alex Demczak (Springfield, Ill.); Adam Franklin (Raytown, Mo.); Anthony Gatti (OL - St. Louis, Mo.); Markus Golden (DL - St. Louis, Mo.); Matt Hoch (DL - Harlan, Iowa); Jimmie Hunt (WR - Cahokia, Ill.); Denzel Martin (LB - Ladue, Mo.); Mitch Morse (OL - Austin, Texas); Marcus Murphy (TB - DeSoto, Texas); Gavin Otte (WR - Rolla, Mo.); Darvin Ruise (LB - Jacksonville, Fla.); Bud Sasser (WR - Denton, Texas); Duron Singleton (S - New Orleans, La.); Kyle Starke (OL - Liberty, Mo.); Lucas Vincent (DL - Olathe, Kan.); Jordan Wade (TB - Lee's Summit, Mo.); Braylon Webb (S - Gilmer, Texas); Darius White (WR - Fort Worth, Texas).
  • The game was the first installment of the Battle Line Rivalry presented by Shelter Insurance, the cross-divisional rivalry between Mizzou and Arkansas.

Individual Offense

  • Senior WR Bud Sasser caught nine passes for 127 yards, his eighth game this season with at least five receptions.
  • Sasser's 127 receiving yards gave him the fourth 100-yard receiving game of his career.
  • After Sasser's 28-yard catch to the Arkansas 4-yard line that clinched his 100-yard game, Mizzou scored on a 4-yard touchdown pass from QB Maty Mauk to WR Jimmie Hunt. On the ensuing two-point conversion, Sasser completed a WR reverse pass to Hunt to tie the game at 14-14.
  • The pass marked the second career pass completion for Sasser, who last season connected with WR L'Damian Washington from 40 yards out on a 2-and-1 fake screen WR pass.
  • Redshirt freshman TE Jason Reese grabbed the first reception of his career on a 3-and-1 play in third quarter action, with the catch going for 12 yards and a first down.

Individual Defense

  • Junior LB Kentrell Brothers led Mizzou with 11 tackles in the win. He has tied or led the team in tackles seven times in 2014, while junior LB Michael Scherer has tied or led the team in stops four times.
  • Junior DE Shane Ray recorded a third quarter tackle-for-loss (1-yard) to bring his season total to 20.5, which ranks fourth all-time on Mizzou's single-season TFL chart.
  • Senior DE Markus Golden recorded the second forced fumble and fourth of his career late in the second quarter with a tackle-for-loss of Arkansas' Jonathan Williams for five yards.
  • Golden racked up his second TFL on the next Arkansas possession of the second quarter, dropping Williams for another 5-yard loss.
  • The second TFL marked Golden's fifth game this season with at least 2.0 tackles-for-loss and third straight after his 2.0 at Texas A&M (Nov. 15) and 2.5 at Tennessee (Nov. 22).
  • Golden recovered a fumble by Arkansas RB Alex Collins (forced by LB Kentrell Brothers) with 2:13 left in the game, the fifth fumble recovery of Golden's career. It was his second in two games after securing a recovery in the win at Texas A&M.

Individual Special Teams

  • Junior PK Andrew Baggett connected on the longest field goal attempt of his career, a 52-yarder, at 14:23 in the second quarter to open the scoring for Mizzou. Baggett had only attempted two 50-plus yard field goals in his career prior to the successful make, both earlier this season.
  • Baggett hit the second 50-plus yarder of his career to close the first half, connecting from 50 yards out as time expired to set the score at 14-6 to Arkansas.
  • Baggett became the first Missouri kicker ever to make two 50-plus yard field goals with his first half effort. Former Mizzou kickers Jeff Jacke (1988) and Tom Whelihan (1985, 86) are the only other Tigers to hit two 50-plus yarders in the single season.
