Game Notes: Mizzou |
Mizzou's series with Alabama dates back to 2002 as all five meetings have come since Wayne and Susan Kreklow took over the program in 2000. This will mark the sixth meeting all-time as the Tigers lead, 4-1, with the only loss coming in the final match of the 2012 season. Mizzou won both meetings last season, 3-1. In the previous five meetings, there has never been a sweep. Four of the five meetings have come since Mizzou joined the SEC, with Mizzou holding a 3-1 edge in those four.
The Tigers will honor their senior class on Wednesday. The class of Whitney Little, Sarah Meister and Emily Wilson has been one of the most successful in school history. It started in 2011 when the trio helped Mizzou qualify for the NCAA Tournament, being the youngest team in the field of 64. They were also key contributors on last season's 35-1, SEC Champion team. In all, the trio has put together a 91-42 record in their four seasons, qualifying for a pair of NCAA Tournaments with an SEC Championship. The 91 wins are second to only last year's class in modern program history.
Recapping Texas A&M
Mizzou Volleyball fell to 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 12-25) to Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena. The Tigers drop to 16-16 on the season and 7-10 in Southeastern Conference play. Sophomore Carly Kan fell two kills shy of a double-double, posting 13 digs and eight kills to lead Mizzou. The duo of freshmen Kasey Reuter and Julia Towler posted six kills apiece off the bench. Senior Whitney Little had four kills and four blocks and Emily Wilson added four kills.
