Mizzou Volleyball Wraps Up Road Slate with Loss to Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Mizzou Volleyball fell to 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 12-25) to Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena. The Tigers drop to 16-16 on the season and 7-10 in Southeastern Conference play. Sophomore Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) fell two kills shy of a double-double, posting 13 digs and eight kills to lead Mizzou.

The duo of freshmen reserves Kasey Reuter (Sioux City, Iowa) and Julia Towler (Blue Springs, Mo.) posted six kills apiece off the bench. Seniors Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) and Emily Wilson (Omaha, Neb.) each added a team-high four total blocks.

After a neck-and-neck start to the first set, the Aggies pulled away late, hitting .281 as a squad. Mizzou cut its deficit to two on a rocket kill from Reuter. Reuter collected two kills on three attempts in the opening frame. Kan added three kills, but Texas A&M's sophomore duo of Emily Hardesty and Jazzmin Babers hit .444 and .429 respectively to propel the home squad to a 25-15 set victory.

Texas A&M kept its momentum going in the second set and raced out to quick 8-3 lead. The Aggies maintained their advantage and held a 15-9 edge at the TV timeout. Towler checked in out of the break and notched four kills in the set, hitting .800 to close the frame as Texas A&M took the 25-17 set win.

The Aggies used another fast start to build a comfortable cushion. After leading 7-1 early, Texas A&M finished the sweep with a 25-12 set victory.

The Tigers will wrap up the 2014 regular season schedule Wednesday at the Hearnes Center against Alabama. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT. Sarah Meister (San Diego, Calif.), Wilson and Little will be honored on Senior Night as the trio plays the final home game of their careers.
